Honeyeaters Sighted Near Subdivison

Posted by Shirley Twofeathers in ,

Getaway
A young female keeps a wary eye out for intruders.

Thunderdome
It is possible that these two females are attracted to the noise and smell of the drag racing.

Arcadia
The rapid proliferation of these creatures seems a small price to pay for the increase in Honeyeater numbers since their introduction.

Roadkill
Members of the group display unexpected empathy towards one of the increasing number of casualties.

Domain
While the alpha male does maintain a strong hierarchy, juveniles are free to playfully interact.

Encroachment
A typical family group with an infant have infested this construction site.

Surveyor
This lone male is so habituated to human contact that he shows no fear whatsoever.

Settlement
A rare sighting of the Golden Helmeted Honeyeater.

Neighbours
Both humans and canines are generally tolerant of these unnatural creations.

Subdivision
As the suburbs encroach on the Honeyeater's habitat, many groups are adapting to life on the city fringe.

After a 9,000 year slumber, Chile’s Chaitén volcano awoke in full fury. On May 2nd, the mountain began spewing lava, ash—and lightning.

In what’s known as a “dirty thunderstorm”, rock fragments, ash, and ice particles in the plume collide to produce static charges— just as ice particles collide to create a charge in typical thunderstorms.

Over 4,000 people were evacuated from the region. The ash cloud reached a height of over 19 km.

Lion on Horseback

The country which gave you bears riding bikes now proudly presents ... lion on horseback!

In an attempt to garner more viewers, an animal park in China treated viewers a bizarre display of a lion riding a horse. The horse sure doesn’t look very comfortable.

Graffiti Castle

Kelburn-Castle-Graffiti-02

Kelburn Castle is prominently located on the west coast of Scotland, 35 miles west of Glasgow, overlooking the sea. Kelburn is supposedly the oldest castle in Scotland to have been continuously inhabited by the same family, and probably built before 1200 AD. In 1977 the tenth Earl of Glasgow and his wife, opened most of Kelburn’s grounds and gardens to the public and introduced new attractions.

It seems an earlier attempt to restore the castle walls used a cement, or stucco if you will, that is actually damaging the original stone walls, and must be removed/replaced in a couple of years. So the Earl and his Mrs, got permission from Historic Scotland to bring four famous graffiti artists from Brazil, and paint the place.

This is how it looked before the project started:
